Function in skin biology
Peptides are short chains of amino acids. In cosmetic science, "peptide" describes a broad category rather than a single ingredient — different peptide sequences are designed to interact with skin in different ways, from supporting the skin's structural protein network to acting as signal molecules. Specificity of sequence and the delivery context (how the peptide is formulated to remain stable and reach skin) both significantly affect a peptide's relevance in a finished product.
Why Ambernay uses it
Peptides are evaluated by Ambernay on a case-by-case basis: the specific sequence, the published evidence for that sequence and its compatibility with the rest of the formula. We do not include peptides on trend value alone — generic "peptide complex" claims without a defined sequence are treated with the same scrutiny as any unproven ingredient category.
Where concentration matters
Effective peptide concentrations vary enormously by sequence — some peptides are formulated at fractions of a percent, others at several percent. There is no universal "effective dose" for peptides as a category; this is determined per ingredient and per published research for that specific sequence.
What we do not claim
We do not claim that peptides used in cosmetic formulas replicate the effects of injectable treatments, stimulate collagen in a clinical sense, or reverse structural ageing. Peptide claims in cosmetics must be evaluated per sequence — broad category claims are not scientifically meaningful.
Used in Ambernay products

Best paired with
Peptide stability is sensitive to formula pH and to the presence of certain other actives. Peptides are generally formulated separately from strong acids and high concentrations of vitamin C derivatives, and benefit from being paired with humectants that support overall formula stability.
Claim caution / regulatory note
Peptides are cosmetic ingredients when used at cosmetic function and concentration. Claims must remain within cosmetic function: visible skin texture, comfort, appearance. Claims referencing collagen stimulation, cellular signalling outcomes or structural skin change require substantiation appropriate to the specific claim — generic peptide marketing claims are not accepted as evidence.
